Sometimes it happens where after you apply for a health insurance plan, you may find a different plan (from the same Health Insurance company) that fits your needs better.  Depending on the company, you might be able to change your plan while your health insurance application is still being reviewed by the underwriters. 

Call your local San Diego insurance agent that helped you apply for the health insurance plan and explain your situation.  Your local anthem blue cross or San Diego blue shield agent wants you to be happy with your plan and (depending on the health insurance company) should be able to help you out with this process.
